Vegan Pregnancy Class

Our wonderful and amazing friend Joanna Vaught is teaching a class about the ins and outs of being pregnant and vegan. Her son Milo is pretty much the cutest and most awesome kid ever, so I know she knows what’s up. You don’t need to be currently pregnant to attend; if you are considering having a child in the near future the info will be helpful. Also I know you should bring an empty stomach, because Joanna can COOK, and you will probably leave stuffed to the gills. Get more info and sign up here:

I’m standing in the bakery watching the pouring rain and imagining all of our wonderful customers at home on their couches under a blanket …

i just stopped to help a customer, and now the sun is shining. oh portland, i love your mysterious weather.

Although it’s been a little slow around here in the cafe we’ve been busy doing some other things, like baking classes, photo shoots, recipe testing, and redecorating.

The PCC classes are so much fun, and I am teaching them again in the winter term (January). Sign up if you missed them this time around, I can only imagine they will be better the second time!

The response to the classes was so great that I am trying to put together a couple of informal classes (not through PCC) here ta the bakery before the holidays. I’m considering a gluten free/allergen kind of thing, to help us exchange ideas and answer your questions. Maybe I will bring in some local GF experts for that one!

Also thinking about a condensed holiday class, like the basics of a holiday vegan meal or something. I woudl love to hear your ideas and what you would be interested in attending, so leave me some comments!

Now that wedding season is over, I finally got around to my redecorating project, and it’s coming along! My friend Leela has helped me hang shelves, paint the walls and hang artwork after hours, and we are almost done. It has really brightened up the space, and made it feel a little cozier. Plus, now you can see my collection of weird cookie jars (giant brown shoe?!) and other vintage kitchen stuff.

We’ve also brought back cheap biscuits and gravy in the morning, so drop by for breakfast! I know its been a tough year for everyone, and I hope that the upcoming holidays are a bright spot. We are trying our best to keep our prices down so you can be frugal, but keep coming by, we need your support! And we just like to see your faces.

And just for fun, a funny picture of Aaron.
